Technical Visit by Lanzhou Expert Group on WST Boluo MSW Treatment Plant

On 20th June, 2006, Mr. Vincent Cheng, General Manager of WIT Holdings accompanied the Lanzhou expert group in visiting the Boluo MSW Treatment Plant. The expert group consisted of five senior officials: Mr. Li Binlong, Deputy Chief, Lanzhou Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Wu Yongli, Deputy Chief, Law Enforcement Management Bureau, Mr. Liu Lihua, Deputy Chief, Pollution Control, Environmental Protection Bureau, Mr. Yao Xin, Deputy Office In-charge, Lanzhou Development and Reform Commission, and Mr. Wang Zhiqiang, Deputy Chief, Finance and Markets, Lanzhou Development and Reform Commission.

Lanzhou City of Gansu Province is in need for a sustainable solid waste treatment solution to replace the soon to be filled up landfills. The Lanzhou Development and Reform Commission jointly with other departments had carried out a technology evaluation on different solid waste treatment technologies and concluded that the first choice is the Waste Integrated Technology Platform which comprises the WST waste separation technology and ITAD innovative thermophilic aerobic digestion technology as the core. Subsequently, the Lanzhou People’s Government appointed a 5-persion expert group to visit and inspect the construction of the Boluo MSW Treatment Plant in which WST waste separation technology with RDF (refuse-derived fuel) to energy technology are being implemented.

In Boluo, the expert group witnessed the soon to be completed civil structures and the ready to install waste sorting equipment. In the technical meetings, the expert group and our engineers exchanged views on the technical aspects of the plant. Negotiation on the commercial terms for the Lanzhou project is now underway.
